What is Arthritis?
Arthritis is a medical term used to describe a reoccurrence of inflammation in one or more joints of the body.
The causes of arthritis can vary however below are some of the most common:
- Age – typically 50 years and over
- Prevalent family history of arthritis
- Obesity
- Sporting or workplace injuries
- Hormonal imbalances
- Mismanagement of diet
Arthritic symptoms can often cause moderate to severe levels of pain that act as an alarming barrier to activities of daily living. Other symptoms of arthritis can also include obvious swelling and/or tenderness of the affected joint, reduced mobility, skin discolouration, muscle waste and weakness.
Can Physiotherapy help arthritis?
There is no known definitive ‘cure’ to arthritis however by working with a Physiotherapist can help a sufferer of arthritis greatly by reducing symptoms to improve their quality of life.
The goals set when attending sessions will be specific to the individual and the reasons for their arthritic changes. For example: some patients will benefit greatly from highlighting and improving on lifestyle changes, weight loss journeys whereas others will find better success in managing work/life balance – to put it simply it all depends on the individual.
How can Fit2Function help with your arthritis?
At our clinic we offer a wide range of treatments aimed at reducing inflammatory response caused by arthritis.
Our K-Laser treatment works especially well at penetrating deep tissue between joint spaces that traditional manual therapy would otherwise be ineffective against.
Positive results in treatment sessions are also optimised with the help of the other treatments we offer such as shockwave to regenerate any affected tissue and advanced cupping to facilitate recovery. This allows for fast and effective treatment of acute symptoms. In addition to our treatments, we also use our on-site gym to create an exercise and lifestyle plan specific to individual needs to ensure all goals are being met.
